Week 2:

Female debate

Each team managed transitions between speakers exceptionally well, mashallah. The flow demonstrates to the judge that both teams are prepared for the final presentation and we are only on day one of the second week. Impressive. The opening arguments for each team were strong but the debate, on both sides, became too distracted by discussion of secondary programs. The proposing team had a large burden with this topic, and could have made a stronger set of points in the final rebuttals.

Negative wins by a narrow margin, making strong arguments about the limitations of using only income. The engagement after the debate was energizing and I look forward to seeing both teams in the final presentation. I expect to see strong performances at the showcase.

Male debate

Each team demonstrated excellent professionalism. Each team's opening arguments were strong. Eye contact was stronger than previous debates demonstrating significant growth. The proposing team led the opening argument by addressing the inherent weakness of the affirmative position. The opposing team's responses could be refined. The proposing team utilized a larger number of speakers, taking advantage of three members. The opposing team relied on one speaker, with preparation support from another team member. We need more diversity of speakers.

Affirmative wins by a narrow margin and both teams are making strong progress towards the final presentation.
